Sacraments

Baptisms:  Parents must be registered parishioners.  Baptisms are scheduled on every Sunday at 1:30 PM and at one of the weekend masses on the fourth weekend of the month. Baptism preparation class is necessary. Baptism preparation classes are held on the first Wednesday and second Sunday of the month. Call the parish office to register for class and baptism.

Reconciliation
Saturday: 11 AM-12 NOON
Also by appointment in the rectory

Weddings: Arrange with a pastoral staff member at least four months in advance. Participation in marriage preparation is essential.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA): For unbaptized persons or baptized persons interested in learning more about the Catholic faith and the process of becoming a Catholic. Call the parish office.

Religious Education: Arrangements should be made for the religious education of children attending public schools. Call the director of catechesis at (773) 588-6484.

Homebound: Call parish office to arrange communion in home for those unable to attend mass or to request visit by parish nurse.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The society of St. Vincent de Paul is accepting donated vehicles through their "Vehicles for the Needy" program. RV's, boats, golf carts, and other vehicles are accepted. The Society will arrange for the vehicle, title, and keys to be picked up. Donors will receive a receipt for the amount the vehicle is sold for. Vehicle donations benefit the Society of St. Vincent de Paul;s programs which assist with rent, utilities, transportation, food, clothing, and furniture. Human Concerns Commission

The St. Benedict Human Concerns Commission ministers to those with spiritual, physical, social and economic needs, and to those experiencing lack and loss. Through active participation and leadership in the human concerns of the parish, neighborhood, city, country and world communities, members of this group are Christianity in action.

  • Common Food Pantry - coordinate collection of foodstuffs for neighborhood food pantry
  • Easter/Thanksgiving/Christmas Dinners - organize and staff holiday dinners
  • Ecumenical and Interreligious Concerns - promoting understanding and relationships among
  • Christians, and between Christians and other faith traditions.
  • Gay and Lesbian Outreach Ministry (GLOM)- support of gifts and witness of gay and lesbian parishioners through service, spirituality, education and stewardship
  • Health Committee - provides health programs and services
  • Laboure House - senior residents enjoy supportive living experience in intergenerational home
  • Ministers of Care - distribute Communion to homebound and hospitalized
  • Ministers of Praise - pray in own home for parish and other special intentions
  • Nicodemus Ministry- lay leadership of wakes and burial services, grief support to families
  • Peace and Justice Ministry - promote awareness of and involvement in issues
  • Respect Life - teaching and support of a consistent ethic of life
  • St. Vincent de Paul Society - assists those in financial need
  • Sharing Parish - organize events with another parish
